Volunteer: Baby Closet Season Switch

We are in need of some wonderful volunteers to help us switch our Baby Closet over from summer clothes to fall/winter clothes! The Baby Closet is a free resource that Parent Connection provides for Teen Parents (ages 13-21), to get items they need for their babies. Everything in our closet is generously donated by community members, ranging from toys to onesies, diapers to cribs, and everything in the closet is completely free to our program participants. Our switch from season to season is a HUGE task, and we could not get it done without fantastic volunteers!

This opportunity is perfect for people that enjoy baby clothes/toys, organizing, and supporting families in need. This also is a great opportunity for small group that wants to work together and/or do team building while giving back!

Volunteer: Be the Change & Help Babies!

Krisley

Here's your chance to be the change & help babies!

Who:

You, by yourself or with a group of friends and family

What you'll be doing:

It's simple, really. We'll be working together to pack diapers.

Where:

Our office is located in downtown Kaukauna

When:

We can be flexible on time! Come for an hour or two, and make a difference!

Why:

Here in the U.S., one in three families struggles to afford the basic need of diapers for their babies. For the babies we serve overseas, the situation is much worse! By providing the basic need of diapers, caregivers can focus on meeting the other needs of their babies.

Volunteer: Bigs Needed!

Getting Involved

Every week, more than 500 men and women of the Fox Valley Region share their lives with their little brothers and sisters. They may go to the beach, see a movie, or throw a frisbee around at the park. They talk about life, school and family. They learn about each other, themselves and what it means to be a friend.

Who is a Big?
Big Brothers, Big Sisters, and Big Couples are all kinds of people -- from college students to business people to retirees -- who volunteer to spend time with children. Bigs sometimes spend as little as one hour each week with a child in need. Through this mentoring program, both child and adults share everyday experiences that enrich the lives of all involved. Applicants must be at least 15 years or older to participate in our Site Based Program, or 16 years or older and have a valid drivers license to participate in our Community Based Program. We ask that our Volunteers are able to commit to at least one full school year or calendar year to be a Big.

Who is a Little?
Littles are youths, from 6 through 14 years old, who come to Big Brothers Big Sisters either through a parent, guardian or the Big Brothers Big Sisters In Schools program, through the recommendation of a teacher. Littles are from single and two-parent homes, from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds. The genesis of a match is that a parent, guardian or teacher believes that a child could benefit from the presence of an additional caring adult in his/her life. The parent or guardian gives permission for the child to participate.

Volunteer: Skilled Volunteers

Skilled volunteers are needed to complete projects in order to keep seniors living in their own home or make a home safe.  Pro bono services of licensed trades workers would advance our mission greatly. This work would be needed on an on-call basis year round. We would schedule around busy times and between jobs or on the weekend.

Great opportunities to mentor young people who may be considering a career in this field.

Also in this category, we are also looking for people who can preview homes for the needed repairs.  After we receive an application, previewers would do a walk-through of the home, identifying issues of safety and warmth.  They review their findings with the homeowner and fill out forms to help determine needed repairs.  Some documentation required.
